Starting Golf Lessons

First lesson with Dan Wood from Portmore Golf Park. I’ve been playing since October 2022 having had 5 lessons at Tiverton Golf Club followed up by a short membership at WGA over the winter joining Portmore this June. I was tired of hitting duffer shots rather than workable shots. Duffers are those 5 foot slices that end up in the rough next to the Tee compared to a workable shot where the game still progresses but you can work to improve it.

In this lesson my focuses were:

  1. Set Up – Stand closer to the ball with my weight in my heels. I needed to think about my arms falling vertically from my shoulders.
  2. Backswing – I was swinging the club behind me and needed to remember to keep it forward.
  3. Rotation –
